José María de Lacoma was born in Barcelona in 1927 in a family of great artistic tradition. From his father’s parents, the family has been present in all aspects of art.
Francisco Lacoma Fontanet outstanding painter (del Prado Museum, Casita del Príncipe, Museum of Modern Art of Barcelona, Goya de Castres Museum, France), left a profound imprint in the Lacoma family.
His mother, Montserrat, a pianist, cellist, and also a painter, was his first teacher; also his father, a great sketcher. His sister, a miniaturist, developed her career in Montevideo in 1946.
